Washington State Primary Election Day and Vice President Kamala Harris picks a running mate

Ballot drop boxes close at 8 in Clark County tonight for the Washington primary that includes races governor and Congress.

“We’ve received 26,000 ballots today, and we will probably receive another 24,000 by the end of the day. So about 50,000 ballots today,” said Clark County Auditor Greg Kimsey. “We think after we get those ballots today, we will be right at about 45% turnout.”

Kimsey said according to the numbers, that’s right where the numbers were during the 2022 election.

While drop boxes have been busy throughout the county, Kimsey said it’s likely because voters had a lot of decisions to make.

“I think we had 28 candidates for governor that voters really held on until their ballots until the last day. So we are seeing a very large number of ballots returned to us today and tomorrow as well,” he said.

In total, there’s 22 drop boxes throughout the county. Kimsey says if you want your vote to count, you must be in line to drop your ballot off by 8 p.m.
