Shortwave trough brings cooler northwest winds, air quality improvements into Tuesday

1 min read

Holden LeCroy: Shortwave trough will bring cooler northwest winds into Tuesday and Wednesday with air quality improvements. This extension of low pressure won’t bring precipitation, but cooler temps and higher humidity overnight will temporarily suppress fire activity. Flare-ups and back burning are expected tomorrow, but due to the strong northwest winds, smoke and haze will be drifted into Klamath County, especially Chiloquin and Chemult areas. Afternoon temperatures cooler on Tuesday in the 80s, but 90s expected to return briefly for Wednesday and Thursday. A much longer and substantial cool down is possible following the weekend, but with that is the possibility of more isolated thunderstorms in the Cascades on Friday and Saturday. Stay tuned for changes.
