Multnomah County ambulance response times improve under temporary staffing policy
2 min read
Emergency medical services in Multnomah County are improving, based on data that tracks American Medical Response (AMR) , the company in charge of the county’s ambulance service.
Multnomah County is roughly 6 months into a temporary staffing requirement change for AMR ambulances that respond to life-threatening calls.
Normally the county requires those trucks to have two paramedics. Under the temporary staffing policy change established in August, the county is allowing AMR to staff only one paramedic on some of those high-priority ambulances.
Since then, the county said response times have improved to the point that AMR is nearly in compliance with county standards, a goal it hasn’t hit since February 2022.
