U.S. Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer talks unions, DOGE, White House role and more

Former Oregon congresswoman Lori Chavez-DeRemer has achieved a rare distinction, becoming only the fifth Oregonian since 1872 to join a presidential cabinet.

Chavez-DeRemer was confirmed by the Senate in March as the new labor secretary under President Trump.

In an exclusive interview with KATU on April 17, Secretary Chavez-DeRemer discussed a variety of topics, including concerns surrounding DOGE and her views on unions.
