Victims of ‘TriMet Barber’ share impact of crimes at sentencing for photographing women in restrooms
2 min read
The so-called ‘TriMet Barber’ Jared Walter has been sentenced to 22 years in prison. It’s a major victory for both prosecutors and victims after repeated lewd and disturbing behavior that has terrorized Portland women for over a decade.
Victims’ testimonies in court Friday were emotional, and many talked about the long-term harm Walter has caused them.
One of the women, who asked to be referred to only by her first name of Suzy, said life has not been the same since finding out that Walter filmed her in a bathroom.
“At first, I went nearly a week without sleeping or eating. My brain just got stuck in a cycle of checking the locks on my house, pacing from door to door,” said Suzy. “I didn’t leave my house for like 6 months.”
