DA claims Multnomah Co. chair’s budget cuts public safety in favor of homeless services
1 min read
Multnomah County Chair Jessica Vega Pederson has released her $4 billion budget proposal with cuts to multiple departments. The proposal has drawn the ire of newly elected District Attorney Nathan Vasquez who claims the cuts to his department are more extensive than what the chair asserts.
"I was, quite frankly, just disgusted by what I saw," he said holding up a copy of the chair’s budget proposal during a news conference Thursday, shortly after the chair had spoken to the media. "This budget absolutely does not support public safety. What I saw in these documents quite frankly are misleading."
