Community divided as La Center, Washington school board debates controversial gender identity policy

The strong opinions on both sides continue within the La Center community in the debate over the district’s student gender identity policy.
On Tuesday, community members voiced their opposition and praise for the policy. The debate stems from a policy within the district that says teachers and staff are not allowed to ask students their pronouns, and if there is a request for change the administration must report that to the child’s parents.
