Federal judge tells Trump administration to re-instate two Oregon student visas

Two graduate students attending Oregon State University and the University of Oregon will be allowed to continue classes without risking deportation for now.
On Monday a federal judge in Eugene granted a temporary restraining order in two separate lawsuits filed on behalf of the students against the Trump Administration, ICE and the Department of Homeland Security.
The 14-day temporary restraining order requires the Trump administration to re-instate the students’ visas and prevents detention and deportation.
The ACLU of Oregon filed the lawsuit along with Innovation Law Lab and Nelson Smith LLP on behalf of Aaron Ortega Gonzalez, a PHD student at Oregon State University and a student identified as only as Jane Doe who is perusing a law degree and a master’s degree at the University of Oregon.
"Today we went to court for Aaron (Ortega Gonzalez) and Jane (Doe) to argue that the government’s unilateral decision was illegal and while we investigate further and while we argue the case further we ask the judge restore Jane and Aaron’s authorization to work and study because they were suffering a reputable harm and the judge agreed with us," said Kelsey Provo Senior Supervisory Attorney with Innovation Law Lab.
