Oregon State Hospital facing potential loss of accreditation following patient death
2 min read
Governor Tina Kotek said the leadership overhaul at the Oregon State Hospital is a "fresh start" for the embattled state facility.
"It’s about making sure we have the right practices and policies in place for patient safety, and I thought we needed a fresh start," said Gov. Kotek.
Gov. Kotek appointed Dave Baden, the current deputy director of policy and programs at the Oregon Health Authority, as the acting superintendent of the Hospital, effective immediately.
The change in leadership came after an unexpected patient death in March.
Since 2020, a total of 21 patients have died at the Oregon State Hospital, with nine of those deaths being unexpected.
