Public transit advocates push for more funding at a rally near the Oregon Capitol

1 min read

A comprehensive transportation funding package is top of mind for Oregon lawmakers this legislative session.

More than 100 advocates are advocating for public transportation funding at the Capitol on Thursday afternoon. TriMet provides about 195,000 rides on an average weekday. This includes buses, MAX, and WES services.

Joel Iboa with the Move Oregon Forward Coalition said public transportation access is lacking in many areas of the state.

"We just heard today from a woman from Forest Grove who was talking about how she has to walk 40 minutes to get to a bus stop. That’s just unacceptable," said Iboa.
