Oregon Senate approves ‘jock tax’ to pay for Major League Baseball stadium in Portland

There’s no guarantee of a team, but the Oregon Senate voted Thursday to make Portland more attractive to Major League Baseball.
Senators overwhelmingly approved $800 million in bonds to finance a potential stadium. That money would come from a "jock tax."
Lawmakers say it means no cost to Oregonians.
The money generated by the tax would eventually pay off the bonds and then go to the general fund for education, infrastructure and public safety.
