Silverton High School locked down following ‘active shooter threat,’ Police: ‘No actual threat’

Silverton High School was placed on lockdown on Friday after a reported “active shooter” threat.
According to a spokesperson with the Silverton Police Department, officers were called out to a reported active shooter at the high school, where a person with a gun was reportedly seen inside the building.
The school was immediately placed on lockdown and responding officers began a search of the premises and did not find anything suspicious. Based on their investigation, officials tell KATU News they do not believe there was an actual threat.
As of 2:20 p.m., school district officials tell KATU News that Silverton High School remains locked down and that other schools in the district have been secured.
Authorities are asking parents to report to the Silverton Middle School tennis courts for reunification with their children. Officials say that all students must be accounted for before they are released to their parents.
