Searching for a wheelchair-accessible taxi in D.C. is like searching for the mythical creature the yeti, resident Kelly Mack said.
“I call it the yeti because it’s rumored to exist, but, you know, I rarely ever see it,” she said.
Frustrations like hers are part of the reason the D.C. government launched a half-million-dollar pilot program to increase the availability of wheelchair-accessible taxis.
But when Ted Oberg and the News4 I-Team dug into the data, the return on investment for taxpayer dollars was underwhelming.
