The family of a man shot and killed by the Gary Police Department spoke out Thursday, claiming police didn’t do enough to de-escalate the situation that claimed his life.
38-year-old Antonio McMichaels’ family said police failed to de-escalate a barricade situation that led to officers fatally shooting him, while officers said they were forced to open fire when he pointed a gun at them while holding a 1-year-old baby.
