Portland Cinco de Mayo Fiesta to proceed as planned amid safety concerns at other events

Portland’s Cinco de Mayo Fiesta will go on this year despite other cultural events being canceled over fears of safety.
The Portland Guadalajara Sister City Association (PGSCA) has hosted the annual celebration for nearly 40 years.
In a statement to KATU News, organizers said, "We understand the very real concerns and fears that some may feel, particularly within BIPOC communities. That is why our highest priority is ensuring that everyone who attends feels welcome, safe, and included. This year, we have taken extra steps to continue to provide a secure, family-friendly environment."
