Several U.S. Senators react to the house passing the budget framework for Trump’s ‘big’ bill

The House of Representatives passed the framework for President Donald Trump’s budget bill, marking a major step forward in the GOP’s efforts to enact a broad legislative agenda focused on tax reform, spending cuts, and national security.

Following the vote, House Majority Leader Steve Scalise of Louisiana praised the Republican-led Congress and the Trump administration for delivering on promises made to the American people, despite skepticism about whether the measure could advance.

"A lot of people didn’t think this could get done," Scalise said. "But like a lot of other big challenges, we came to this new Congress with President Trump, the Republican Senate and House committed to fight for the American people and fix the problems that we inherited— to go and solve so many of the problems that American families have been struggling with.

House Speaker Mike Johnson also declared a major legislative victory, calling it a "big one" and a "very important" win for the GOP.

Johnson spoke to reporters following the vote. "Good day in the House, and I told you not to doubt us," he said. "The media always does, the Democrats always do. But we get the job done, and we’re really grateful to have had the big victory on the floor just now."
