Oregon Democrats have unveiled a transportation funding proposal that would generate an additional $1.9 billion per biennium for the State Highway Fund.
The plan seeks to address critical infrastructure needs by increasing taxes on gas, vehicle registration, and more.
The proposal outlines a 20-cent per gallon incremental increase to the statewide gas tax, which currently stands at $0.40 per gallon. The tax would rise by eight cents in 2026, followed by four-cent increases in 2028, 2030, and 2032. Additionally, vehicle registration fees would see a $66 hike, while title fees would increase by $90.
