How could President Trump’s historic tariffs impact you?

President Donald Trump’s new tariffs are all over the news right now. At baseline, they include a 10% tariff on foreign countries, and a 25% tariff on foreign-made cars.
We wanted to know more specifically what these tariffs mean for you at home. That’s why we spoke to Oregon’s chief economist.
“Well, already we’ve seen just earlier this week a surge in purchases of motor vehicles nationally as people are trying to get ahead of those tariffs. And I think we’re seeing that in some other categories as well,” said Carl Riccadonna, Oregon’s chief economist. “We see this in inventories and retailers and wholesalers in manufacturers.”
