Mistakenly deported Maryland man was MS-13 gang leader, not ‘father of the year,’ Press Sec. says

The Trump administration acknowledged in a court filing Monday that a Maryland man was mistakenly deported to El Salvador due to "an administrative error."
A lawsuit states Kilmar Armando Abrego Garcia, a Salvadoran national granted protection status by an immigration judge in 2019, was stopped by ICE officers on March 12 and told his immigration status had changed.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said "The Atlantic" and other outlets made him out to be "father of the year," but added that couldn’t be further from the truth.
