First Lady Melania Trump honors courageous women from around the world

First Lady Melania Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio hosted the prestigious International Women of Courage Awards, celebrating the exceptional bravery, strength, and leadership of women worldwide—often at great personal risk and sacrifice.

Now in its 19th year, the awards honor women nominated by U.S. diplomatic missions overseas for their outstanding contributions to human rights, education, journalism, law enforcement, and other fields advancing women’s rights. According to Rubio, over 200 women have been recognized since former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice came up with the award.
