Lake Oswego City council set to hear from residents on public lake access appeal

The Lake Oswego City council has set aside one hour to hear from residents on whether or not to appeal a county judge’s decision to grant the public access to Oswego Lake.

The March 3 decision, which came in a decades-old battle, means the Lake Oswego Corporation (LOC) no longer holds the power to block public access to the nearly 400-acre body of water.

The LOC manages the lake for roughly 4,000 households with private access.

The group has already appealed, and the city will now need to decide between joining the LOC in its appeal, which has been the status quo thus far in the battle, or pulling out from the fight and begin preparing Millennium Plaza Park to allow public access to the lake.
