President Trump and Defense Secretary Hegseth unveil next-generation fighter jet

President Donald Trump and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth announced Friday that Boeing will be in charge of a contract to build the "Next Generation Air Dominance fighter" known as the F-47 to "maintain American air dominance into the future."

Hegseth previewed the Department of Defense announcement on X Thursday by stating "POTUS leading the way on the future of American power."

Trump called the F-47 "the most advanced, most capable, most lethal aircraft ever built."

"An experimental version of the plane has secretly been flying for almost 5 years and we’re confident that it massively overpowers the capabilities of any other nation," he said.

Hegseth said while standing next to Trump that the program "sends a very direct, clear message to our allies that we’re not going anywhere, and to our enemies, that we will be able to project power around the globe unimpeded for generations to come."
