86-year-old woman severely injured in Tigard after being hit by ratchet strap from passing truck

An 86-year-old woman is in the hospital with serious injuries after she was hit by a metal ratchet strap that flew off a passing truck in Tigard.

The incident happened on March 11. According to Tigard Police, the woman was walking along SW Durham Road near the 108th Avenue intersection when at about 9:23 a.m. she was hit by a 6-inch wide, heavy-duty ratchet strap that fell off a passing truck.

The woman suffered "several broken bones and fractures," police said, and she was rushed to the hospital.

Investigators are now asking for help in tracking down the truck’s driver, who they say might not even know about the incident.
