Astronauts Suni Williams & Butch Wilmore are back to Earth after 9 months on the ISS
1 min read
American astronauts Suni Williams and Butch Wilmore returned to Earth after what was meant to be a weeklong mission turned into nine months aboard the International Space Station.
Tuesday evening at approximately 5:57 p.m. the crew successfully splashed down in the newly renamed, under President Donald Trump, "Gulf of America." This was following a "deorbit" sequence and "blackout period" where the crew lost communication as they began reentry in the Earth’s inner atmosphere.
“On behalf of SpaceX, welcome home,” radioed SpaceX Mission Control in California as applause erupted in the control room and the capsule touched down.
