NW Natural Gas proposes 6.8% rate hike, PUC seeking public comment

Northwest Natural Gas has proposed a rate increase that would see the cost for single-family homes rise by 6.8%. The Public Utility Commission (PUC) is set to hold a virtual event next Tuesday at 6 p.m. to gather public comments on the proposed hike.

According to NW Natural, the increase is necessary to cover rising operating costs driven by inflation and higher interest rates. The company also cited the expense of investments needed to maintain safe and reliable utility services as a factor in the proposed rate hike.
