Oregon city one step closer to gutting DEI committee

The Estacada City Council voted on Monday in favor of an ordinance that would, in part, ax the existing Diversity, Equity and Inclusion committee.

In 2020, the committee was unanimously voted into the city’s municipal code by the City Council. It’s made up of volunteers.

Broadly speaking, committee members have been working to make sure all people are included in city governance. For example, they’ve been trying to find the best ways of reaching different kinds of people.
