VA to cut 80,000 jobs in major reorganization, aims to return to 2019 staffing levels

The Department of Veterans Affairs is undergoing an “aggressive” reorganization that includes cutting 80,000 employees from the agency, according to an internal memo obtained by The Associated Press.
Veterans Affairs is Oregon’s second largest federal employer with just under 6,400 jobs.
Mark Ronning is a veteran and is the managing attorney for Northwest Veterans Law.
He says getting VA benefits is already a lengthy process, and reducing workforce could make the wait even longer.
