Gov. Kotek, Metro call for transparency on Multnomah Co. Homeless Services budget

2 min read

Oregon Gov. Tina Kotek and Metro Council called for a detailed breakdown in separate letters to the Multnomah County Board of Commissioners of the $104 million Homeless Services deficit.

County Chair Jessica Vega Pederson has raised alarms about the deficit in the past.

The letter comes in response to a written request from Pederson to funnel $55 million in state Homeless Services money to the county to make up for part of the deficit. Pederson has also asked Metro’s council president, Lynn Peterson, for $30 million.

Both Kotek and Peterson are pushing for more details about how the county has been spending Supportive Services Housing money that comes from high income earners’ taxes collected and disbursed to the tri-counties by Metro.
