Rep. Cliff Bentz discusses the Ukraine war and how President Trump is working to end the conflict

KATU’s Steve Dunn interviewed Oregon’s lone Republican U.S. representative, Cliff Bentz, and asked him to weigh in on Ukraine, Russia and our European allies following President Donald Trump’s heated meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy last week.
When it comes to continuing the support for Ukraine, Bentz said it would depend upon the posture of settling and ending the war.
"What I would say is President Trump is trying to do is work toward a settlement of this war, rather than constantly coming back to the American people and saying, ‘Hey, write another check for another $100 billion," he told Dunn.
Dunn asked Bentz, who represents Oregon’s 2nd Congressional District, if he believes we’re moving away from our trans-Atlantic allies. He responded that he hoped not, as the allies in Europe are of terrific importance to us.
Dunn also asked him whether he agrees with Republican House Speaker Mike Johnson that Russian President Valdimir Putin is not to be trusted.
