Oregon lawmakers seek tougher penalties to combat A.I. deepfake porn
1 min read
Lawmakers are deliberating a new bill aimed at strengthening laws against the harmful use of AI-generated images. The proposed legislation seeks to criminalize the dissemination of pornographic or sexually explicit pictures created through artificial intelligence, commonly known as deepfakes.
Currently, it is illegal to share explicit images of another person without their consent if the intent is to harass, humiliate, or injure them. The new bill expands this to include digitally created, manipulated, or altered intimate images. Thirty-one other states have already adopted similar legislation.
