Multnomah County Commissioner Julia Brim Edwards discusses $104M deficit in homeless services
2 min read
Shortly after Multnomah County announced a $104 million deficit in homeless services, KATU spoke with County Commissioner Julia Brim-Edwards, who says the county doesn’t have a budget problem, but it has a spending problem.
Brim-Edwards said she feels instead of asking for more money, the county needs to tighten the purse strings and audit performance.
“For example, we made a significant investment in shelter and we’re not seeing people move from shelter into housing. So should we be shifting resources to move people more effectively from shelter into housing?” said Commissioner Brim-Edwards.
This video is a full interview with the commissioner on February 25, 2025.
