Portland Timbers kick off season Sunday against Vancouver Whitecaps at Providence Park

The Portland Timbers kick off their 2025 MLS season this Sunday with a fresh identity, but they’ll be missing some key players. Head coach Phil Neville emphasized that fans should expect a different team on the pitch this year.

"There’s going to be a new identity and a new style of play because the players are different," Neville said. "The players that we’ve brought in will make us a different team… Last year we were a team of really, really good individuals… but individuals don’t always win you championships."
