Washington Superintendent says anti-DEI directive is not enforceable

The Washington Superintendent of Public Instruction, Chris Reykdal, publicly responded to a letter from the United States Department of Education, which directs schools to stop funding diversity equity and inclusion programs. The department threatens to withhold federal funds, should schools not comply.
DEI programs loosely offer support and services to kids who may need extra help. This could be kids with special needs, or those who could be food insecure. Broadly it can just mean compliance with nondiscrimination laws.
