CEO killing suspect Luigi Mangione appears for first court appearance since arraignment

The man accused of fatally shooting UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson outside a New York City hotel and leading police on a five-day manhunt appeared in court Friday.

Luigi Mangione, 26, appeared for a hearing in state court in Manhattan. Prosecutors and Mangione’s defense lawyers are expected to provide updates on the status of the case and Judge Gregory Carro could set deadlines for pretrial paperwork and possibly even a trial date.

Ahead of his court appearance, supporters of Mangione packed the hallway outside the courtroom.

Another video showed posters of other healthcare CEOs on a park fence outside the courthouse.
