In Olympia, Senate Bill 5434 proposes to enhance legislative oversight of the governor’s emergency powers, allowing the legislature to terminate a state of emergency and weigh in on emergency prohibitions. The bipartisan bill, supported by Governor Bob Ferguson, is set for a committee vote, with some stakeholders arguing it doesn’t go far enough.
