NBA player & Gervais High School alum Kylor Kelley spends All-Star break reuniting with former team

It was just last year when Kylor Kelley was sitting on the same bench, playing for the Salem Capitals. Now a center for the Dallas Mavericks, he hasn’t forgotten his roots.
For the past two summers, Kelley spent time playing for the Salem Capitals in The Basketball League (TBL), a professional league that helped him continue his journey toward the NBA.
"They didn’t have to give me a spot when I came back from the G-League a couple of years ago. But then they gave me an opportunity to keep playing. Any chance I get, I thank them for that," Kelley said.
His former team could not be more proud of how far he has come.
"Heard there was a hometown team and he’s a hometown kid, and so we were fortunate enough that he was able to come out and play with us. We feel very blessed that we were able to be a very small stepping stone in his journey," said Jason Conrad, owner of the Salem Capitals.
