TriMet prepares buses, MAX trains for winter weather in Portland metro area

TriMet is making sure its buses and trains are ready for snow or ice.
TriMet says MAX trains typically run well in the snow. But freezing rain can build up on the overhead wires, meaning the trains can’t get power.
People may also notice sparking near the connection between the train and wires if there is ice. TriMet says that’s due to a slight break in the connection and is not dangerous.
