Oregon library director goes viral using Gen Z slang in Redmond tour

2 min read

Deschutes Public Library is going viral over a video promoting the newly-opened Redmond Library. Using the words written by a Gen Z intern, Library Director Todd Dunkelberg — who’s a bit older than that — takes you on a tour of the new space.

“Hey Girly-Pops. Grab a book and check out the Redmond Library glow-up. How Skibidi is that?” Dunkelberg begins.

Dunkelberg takes viewers on an indoor and outdoor tour of the two-story building that includes private booths, co-working space, teen area, children’s area, artwork and outdoor patio.

“Need to tough grass after a Menty B? Grab some sunshine on our civic patio. Very mindful, very demure. No thoughts. Just vibes.” he continues.

“You just don’t understand the generation like I do,” Dunkelberg concludes.

The video is making the rounds on TikTok and Instagram. Katie Schneider from Seattle shared the video said "This librarian understood the assignment."

You can watch the video in the player above. If you want to follow along, here is a translation of these terms, according to Google.
