Oregon House Republicans lay out their legislative priorities for session at the capitol

The Oregon House Republican caucus laid out their legislative priorities Thursday morning. The Republican lawmakers outlined their agendas on housing, homelessness, affordability, and the education system.
On the issue of homelessness, House Minority Leader Christine Drazan spoke about a recent hypothermia death in Oregon and the need for the state to change its approach to homelessness.
"We cannot afford to continue to approach homelessness in the way that we have been. We don’t have 20 years to get this done. That person didn’t have one more night out in the cold," said Drazan.
In her State of the State Address, Gov. Tina Kotek said the actions related to her state emergency on homelessness created 3,300 households and prevented 24,000 households from experiencing homelessness in the first place. Additionally, Kotek said the state shelter program supports over 4,800 shelter beds to help people stay off the streets and have access to transitional stability. Drazan said in the press conference
