Portland’s new mayor discusses plan to end unsheltered homelessness in the city

KATU’s Angelica Thornton talked with Mayor Keith Wilson in his first televised interview since taking office. Part of the discussion focused on how Wilson plans to tackle the city’s biggest crisis – homelessness.

During his campaign, Wilson made the ambitious promise to end unsheltered homelessness within a year.

“I’m more emboldened than ever. I’m more hopeful and I’m more certain it’s going to happen now the outpouring of support the first meeting I took was from the business community and they offered 40 facilities for potential shelters,” Wilson said.
