1 min read
At 5:30 p.m. on February 1, 2025, Cannon Beach firefighters responded to a report of a vehicle that had veered off Highway 101 near Hug Point.
Upon arrival, emergency crews discovered a single vehicle approximately 100 feet below the highway.
Firefighters quickly established a rope rescue system, while another team rappelled down the hillside to stabilize the vehicle, assess for injuries, and extricate the lone occupant from the car.
Once the victim was safely brought back to the highway, paramedics from Medix Ambulance assessed their condition and transported them to a local hospital. The injuries appeared to be mild, the fire agency said.
