Slightly cooler conditions Thursday, fire growth remains slow and steady

Holden LeCroy: Monsoonal moisture arrived today, but the good kind for us- NO LIGHTNING and just clouds. That being said, thunderstorms did develop across Eastern Oregon and that likely will create more fire starts for them to watch out for. Monsoon moisture for Eugene area at least was the result of a dry frontal boundary moving north. That’ll reduce temperatures slightly into the low-80s for Thursday. A slow climb back into the upper-80s through the end of the week. Some near-term hope for area wildfires though is a deepening trough of low pressure offshore which could bring light drizzle and rain potential for Sunday morning. Moisture is coming off of the Pacific and not convective or coming out the dessert, so a good sign of no lightning. Stay tuned, this could be some good news.
