First White House Press Briefing with Karoline Leavitt as President Trump’s Press Secretary

At 27 years old, Karoline Leavitt is the youngest person to serve as White House press secretary.

She made her debut in the James S. Brady Press Briefing Room Tuesday afternoon, telling the media, as well as the public, she is ready to work.

President Donald Trump appointed Leavitt as a spokeswoman during his latest campaign, praising her for doing what he described as "a phenomenal job." He later announced she’d be starting her new role as soon as soon as he took office.

She pointed out the fact that Trump had held "multiple" news conferences since Inauguration Day, as well as "gaggled" on Air Force One.

Leavitt also announced the new Trump administration will speak to "all media outlets and personalities, not just the legacy media who are seated in this room."

Plus, she said Trump will restore White House press passes that were taken away from 440 journalists, whose credentials were "wrongly revoked" under former President Joe Biden’s administration, as well as welcome independent journalists, podcasters, social media influencers and creators to apply for credentials so they can attend the briefings in-person.
