Portland exhibition examines story of survival through art of three generations

A new exhibit in downtown Portland a new exhibit brings the past into the present, focusing on three generations of artists from the same family.

The exhibit, “Survival and Intimations of Immortality,” opened Sunday at the Oregon Jewish Museum and Center for Holocaust Education.

The exhibit examines the transmission of trauma from generation to generation with a story of survival, beginning with Alice Lok Cahana, a Holocaust survivor.

Kitra Cahana, granddaughter of Alice Lok Cahana, speaks about her photography that’s part of the exhibit.
