Snowpack across Oregon sees significant dip, but experts remain optimistic amid dry spell

Since Jan. 1, the snowpack across the state has fallen off dramatically in some spots. While the loss of snow is worrisome, experts say that because we had so much snow leading up to January it’s not that big of a deal.
For example, the Hood-Sandy-Lower Deschutes basin, which includes Mount Hood, has seen about a 30% loss since the turn of the year. The Willamette basin has decreased from 131% of normal to 92% of normal.
