Portland police’s new robot “dog”

“Spot” the four-legged robot is manufactured by Boston Dynamics and Portland police said at a news conference Thursday that he’ll be used in many ways, including bomb disposal.

The robot will also be used in situations involving an armed suspect, to hand them a phone to talk to a crisis negotiator.

Spot can also be deployed in rescue situations. Police say the robot can have devices attached to it to monitor things like air quality.
