An Oregon woman is stranded in Florida after Delta Airlines suffers technical issues

2 min read

Thousands remain stranded as Delta Airlines tries to rebound following last week’s Crowdstrike technology issues.

Becky Jacobs, an Oregonian from Gold Beach, has been stuck in Orlando, Florida.

“It’s been a nightmare. I went to the airport on Sunday and my flight out of Orlando was several hours delayed, which would make me miss my connection in Salt Lake.” Jacobs said. “I spent six or seven hours on the phone with them to get re-booked.”

Jacobs tells KATU News that she waited in baggage claim for several hours waiting for her bags to be returned to her, but they never arrived.

She then spent hours trying to get a hold of someone at Delta to find out where her bags were.

“I finally got a hold of a gal named Carol who helped me and she’s like “your bags were priority shipped to Eugene instead of back to Orlando.”

Delta was able to book Jacobs on a flight on Tuesday, only to cancel it a few hours later. The airline also gave her a voucher for a hotel, however, Jacobs says all the hotels were full.

“I’m going to look at booking on another airline like Southwest to get back home," Jacobs said. "They also will not compensate me for all the money I am not making as a bartender on the coast, during our busiest time of the year. We don’t have paid vacation."

Delta Airlines stated to KATU News on Tuesday: “Delta is in receipt of the Department’s notice of investigation and is fully cooperating. We remain entirely focused on restoring our operation after cybersecurity vendor CrowdStrike’s faulty Windows update rendered IT systems across the globe inoperable. Across our operation, Delta teams are working tirelessly to care for and make it right for customers impacted by delays and cancellations as we work to restore the reliable, on-time service they have come to expect from Delta.”
