Vine stars share tips on how to survive TikTok ban

Few platforms have burned brighter — and disappeared faster — than Vine. From 2012 to 2017, the six-second video app became a cultural phenomenon, launching the careers of stars such as Shawn Mendes, Liza Koshy, King Bach, and Jake and Logan Paul.

It became a “skeleton framework” for TikTok, and its biggest creators toured the country, hosted meet-and-greets and felt unstoppable — until Vine’s collapse in 2017. A failure to monetize and its sale to Twitter left the platform in ruins and creators scrambling to adapt.
