Good Samaritan killed trying to stop robbery in NE Portland, police say

Portland Police investigators have launched a homicide investigation following a suspicious death case at a Northeast Portland Fred Meyer store.

The victim has been identified as 47-year-old Jonathan Trent.

Investigators say they believe Trent witnessed a robbery and was shot when he attempted to intervene. He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
