Oregon man convicted for violent physical, sexual assault of woman in wheelchair

A man has been convicted for the violent physical and sexual assault of a wheelchair-bound woman in Beaverton.
A Washington County jury found Timothy Paul Fitzgerald, 54, guilty of multiple charges, including assault in the first and second degrees, two counts of sodomy in the first degree, three counts of sexual abuse in the first degree, kidnapping in the first degree, attempted rape in the first degree, and unlawful sexual penetration in the first degree.
According to prosecutors, Fitzgerald approached a homeless and physically disabled woman while she was sleeping on a sidewalk in downtown Beaverton. After offering her money, which she declined, Fitzgerald attacked her, striking and kicking her in the face with steel-toed boots, causing a complex fracture of her nasal and orbital bones.
The victim testified that Fitzgerald then moved her to a more secluded area nearby, where he physically and sexually assaulted her for approximately 40 minutes.
